To all of our Winter Pioneer Family.

This winter went by so quickly, it is actually taking us a minute to realize that it's really almost over. We would like to send out many happy thoughts to you, and wish you safe travels as you venture forward. Whether you are going home, or on to the next adventure, we hope to see you back here, at your Pioneer home, next winter.

till we meet again,

Your Pioneer Family

Today..... we helped save a Sea Turtle.

A man in the park was down at the beach, and happened to see a sea turtle buried in the sea weed. He said that he could only see it's flipper moving, and was afraid to move it for fear of hurting it. He came back to the park, contacted Debbie who contacted us in the office. I called The Ark to notify them, and they advised that we should go down and move the turtle out of the seaweed, and onto the beach, keep him calm and they would be there as soon as possible.
.
When we got down there, there was a group surrounding the turtle, and James Anderson had already gotten the beautiful Sea Turtle out of the sea weed that it was buried in, and was keeping it calm. He discovered that the turtle had fishing line around it's neck, and figured that the long line that was attached had gotten tangled in the sea weed and pulled the turtle ashore.

.
.
.

After only a few minutes, I waved down the men from The Ark. At first they attempted to remove the fishing line but discovered that it was too embedded to remove it safely, so they scooped up the turtle, thanked all of us for our efforts, and took it with them to get the fishing line off of it and save it's life.

UPDATE: I called The Ark a few hours later, and found out that they were able to remove the fishing line, (or mono-filament), safely, and they expect that he will be back swimming in the ocean where he belongs, within the next 48 to 72 hours. :) They are great people, and I thanked them over and over for the wonderful job that they do.

UPDATE #2: The gentleman who first discovered the Sea Turtle in the seaweed is named Larry Meier. In appreciation to him for his wonderful efforts, we would like to call the Sea Turtle "Larry". Thank you for not turning a blind eye, and walking away. :)
.
UPDATE #3: I just called to check on "Larry the Sea Turtle". I was told that they have around 86 to be released, and that there will be a mass release sometime next week that he will be a part of.
